My journey into the world of preservation began in 2003, starting with a tiny apartment balcony and a few containers of tomatoes. While my initial attempts yielded only small batches of canned goods (and a big mess in the kitchen), I developed a passion for preserving the bounties of nature. I quickly realized that to excel at preserving, I needed to continually learn and adapt my methods.
Now, after two decades of experience and a transition to a larger space, I’ve evolved into a seasoned preserver. My mission is to share the invaluable tips and tricks I’ve gathered along the way with fellow preservation enthusiasts who are just embarking on their own journey.
A Personal Connection to Preservation
Preservation took on a deeper meaning when I uncovered several food allergies just a few years ago. These allergies prompted a significant shift in our family’s dietary habits. By preserving my own food, I regain control over our meals, ensuring they align with our dietary needs.
When you explore my preserved goods, you can see that I prioritize safe and wholesome ingredients and recipes. My passion lies in sharing not only the joy of preserving but also the empowerment that comes from knowing precisely what goes into each jar and container.
Safe and Tested Resources
Safety was always a worry for me when I first got started. I would often worry about making a mistake that could leave me and my family ill.
But over the years, I learned all about safe and tested resources for Water Bath Canning and Pressure Canning. It is vitally important to ensure you are following tested recipes that contain the right amount of ingredients and the right acidity to ensure your canned goods remain shelf-stable and safe.
I only use safe and tested resources for my recipes at home and in my articles. I will cite my sources in all of my recipe articles so you can be assured that they are from safe and trusted sources.
