At Preserving Guide, I take pride in my thorough and impartial approach to recipe and product reviews. My process is designed to provide my audience with accurate, safe, unbiased, and practical insights. I want to be transparent with you about my editorial process and how I ensure the quality and reliability of my recipes and product reviews.
Recipe Selection & Review Process
Relevance to Family & Audience
The recipes I review are chosen to closely align with my family’s interests and the interests of my audience. I ensure that each recipe is relevant and engaging to my readers by analyzing current trends, your feedback, and search data. I also consider the source of the recipe in terms of food safety.
Only Safe & Tested Recipes
Food safety is an absolute must for me. Before I pick a recipe, I make sure to check its background carefully. This is to ensure that it’s safe and has been properly tested. When preserving food, especially in canning, it’s critical to get the acidity levels and cooking times just right. That’s why I always use recipes that are known to be safe and tested. I follow the recipe exactly as it is, unless it says that you can use different ingredients.
For canning recipes, I will always include the recipe’s original source to help validate that it is a Safe & Tested recipe.
I Make the Recipes I Review
I have made every recipe you find on the Preserving Guide website. This way, I can provide tips & notes based on my own experience with the recipe to help you streamline your own experience.
Product Selection & Review Process
Relevance to Me & Audience
I carefully select products for review based on my personal preservation processes, industry trends, and audience feedback.
Hands-on Approach
Each product that makes it through selection undergoes a hands-on evaluation in my home. I evaluate the product itself, but also the purchase and support/customer service experience.
This practical approach allows me to give you a real-life review of the product’s performance, functionality, and usability.
Impartial Analysis
My reviews are impartial and free from external influence.
I do not receive compensation from companies/manufacturers for reviewing their products. In the interest of transparency, I will note in my review if a company provided a product for me to evaluate.
My analysis focuses solely on the product’s features, effectiveness, and value to my readers.
Comparative Analysis
Products are sometimes compared against similar items in the market to help provide context and benchmarking.
This helps to highlight strengths, weaknesses, and unique features to help you, my reader, make an informed decision.
Expert Consultation
For technical or specialized products, I consult with industry experts to enhance my findings. These experts contribute to a deeper understanding of the product’s technical or safety aspects and marketing position.
Ongoing Updates
I periodically revisit and update my product reviews to reflect market changes, new models/versions, and long-term usage insights.
Your Trust is Important to Me
I am committed to impartial, comprehensive, and transparent reviews. I want to earn and maintain my reader’s trust through every recipe, tip, trick, and review I publish.
